Why did you choose Family Medicine? I fell in love with Family Medicine because it emphasizes prevention and holistic care with a broad scope of diseases and their treatments.

Why did you choose to train in Idaho? Idaho was the perfect fit for me. I felt inspired and empowered by the graciousness and admirability of the entire team at Saint Alphonsus. The community here inside and outside the hospital is so lovely.

What excites you most as you begin your training with the MSI? - Saint Alphonsus Nampa Family Medicine program? I am excited to build up my medical toolbelt, become more fluent in medicine, and contribute to this impressive team and community.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? I enjoy spending time with my family, birdwatching, nature walks, lifting weights, skincare, and grilling food outside.

Why did you choose to train in Idaho? - I have great love for the Treasure Valley and my growing connection to the community.

What excites you most as you begin your training with the MSI? - I chose this program because the hospital and its physicians share my values and commitment to community-centered care.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? - I enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife, Shelby, our two sons, Beau and Louie, and our dog, Winston. I also loves football, baseball, woodworking, making homemade pizza, and anything with a motor.

Why did you choose to train in Idaho? - The state’s beautiful nature and laid-back vibe quickly grew on me, and I'm excited to continue my journey here.

What excites you most as you begin your training with the MSI? - Not only is it a hospital I am familiar with and have come to appreciate, but it’s also a growing program where I can actively help shape its direction. I am eager to contribute to its culture and patient care approach, all while building strong connections with fellow residents and faculty.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? - I enjoy working on cars, capturing moments through photography, or spending time with my wife and daughter. I look forward to continuing my growth as a physician and making a positive impact on both my patients and the community.

Why did you choose Family Medicine? - As I went throughout my training, I found I really enjoy every specialty, every organ system, I enjoy trying to tackle every problem that a patient can have, and most of all I enjoy getting to know people and helping them live their best life. Family Medicine was the obvious marriage between my love of people and medicine.

Why did you choose to train in Idaho? - This is my home! These are my people! There’s no other state I’d want to train and later work in than Idaho!

What excites you most as you begin your training with the MSI? - I’m excited to finally be “a doctor” and not a student. I’m also thrilled to get to work with the people of Nampa and the treasure valley, as well as my awesome faculty and co-residents! It’s just all around an exciting time!

What do you like to do outside of medicine? - I’m all about my family. My wife and son usually get whatever time I have left to spare. We also have another boy on the way! But, when I can, I like to cook, play chess, play/watch every sport, and exercise! I’m a gym junkie and a sports addict.

Why did you choose Family Medicine? - It is a field where I can build relationships that span generations, consider the full landscape of a patient’s health, and develop a comprehensive set of clinical and procedural skills.

Why did you choose to train in Idaho? - Living in the Nampa-Meridian-Boise area brings me incredible personal joy: proximity to my family in Utah, a community I love, and abundant access to the outdoors.

What excites you most as you begin your training with the MSI? - I spent a month at Saint Alphonsus during an audition rotation and was struck by the warmth and expertise of the faculty, and by the thoughtfully designed, light-filled spaces that reflect the program’s welcoming, community-centered mission. The program’s commitment to addressing Idaho’s physician shortage—especially in rapidly-growing and Spanish-speaking communities—strongly resonates with me.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? - I spend my free time hiking and trail running in the foothills with my partner, Eric, and our dog, Remi. As a lifelong musician, I also hope to bring my passion for violin and singing into the hospital, sharing the comforta nd connection music brings with patients and colleagues alike.

Aleksandra Barrett, MD

Hometown: I was born and raised in Tomaszow Mazowiecki - a small city in central Poland. I later moved to the United States for my medical training. Both experiences have shaped my perspective and approach to patient care.

Why did you choose Family Medicine? I chose family medicine because I value long-term relationships with patients and the ability to care for people of all ages. I enjoy the variety and the focus on prevention, continuity, and whole-person care. Being able to see the impact treatment has on a patient’s quality of life is a driving factor in my passion.

Why did you choose to train in Idaho? I chose Idaho for its strong sense of community, supportive training environment, and broad clinical experience in both urban and rural settings. Having spent time in both cities and small towns, Idaho provides the comfort of both peace and excitement.

What excites you most as you begin your training with MSI? - I’m excited to learn from experienced faculty, develop strong clinical skills, and train in a program that emphasizes full-spectrum, patient-centered care. The staff at Saint Alphonsus exhibit values I aspire to and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing the best care for their patients.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, cooking, and staying active. While my husband would say I most love dressing up our little girl in cute outfits.

Why did you choose to train in Idaho? I was drawn to Idaho for its mountains, rivers, and lakes, as well as the opportunity to be close to family in the area.

What excites you most as you begin your training with MSI? - I am especially excited to join the MSI – Saint Alphonsus Nampa Family Medicine Residency as part of a new program where faculty and residents are deeply invested in building something meaningful.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? Outside of medicine, I enjoy rock climbing, playing sports with friends, and spending time with family.

Why did you choose Family Medicine? - - Family medicine keeps my short attention span occupied. One visit I can be seeing an older patient with many chronic concerns and then immediately after that I can see a newborn child for their first visit. I love the variety family medicine provides.

Why did you choose to train in Idaho? - - I was born in Eastern Idaho and am trying to be readopted by the state. My wife is from the Boise area and we love being close to family. Idaho has the small town, close knit feel while still having plenty of urban areas with lots to do.

What excites you most as you begin your training with the MSI? - - Idaho has become home to my family. What excites me most is the opportunity that the MSI program provides me with to train locally and start building connections for the future.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? - - I enjoy everything Idaho has to offer; biking, hiking, and fishing. However, recently most of my time is spent with my wife and two boys, we enjoy going to the park and playing at the local splash pad.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? - My family is the most important part of my life. I have a wonderful wife and a baby girl who bring me constant joy. Why did you choose to train in Idaho? - Idaho feels like home to me. Training in Idaho also allows me to stay close to my family and build our life together in a place we love.

What excites you most as you begin your training with the MSI? - I am excited to join the MSI–Saint Alphonsus Nampa Family Medicine program because of its strong full‑spectrum training, supported by committed mentorship and hands‑on experience from day one. The opportunity to contribute to a growing program and develop alongside dedicated faculty and residents is truly motivating for me.

What do you like to do outside of medicine? - I love spending my free time with my family. You will often find me biking along the Greenbelt, capturing landscape photographs, or tending to my backyard garden. I am happiest outdoors, and I enjoy exploring beautiful places with my friends and family whenever I can.
